Covered Moving Walkway
1979.1The Moving Walkway was designed as part of a study to solve inner-city traffic in Milan and was exhibited at the XVI Triennale in 1979. Solving inner-city congestion was a topic that greatly interested Sapper, and that he studied and evolved over many years to include a wide range of proposals and projects, such as a bike track network, a folding steel bicycle with small wheels for Batavus (1976), a bus for bicycles for FIAT (1976), a bicycle umbrella to protect riders from bad weather (1979), the covered moving walkway (1979), a folding scooter (1979) and the lightweight aluminium bicycle Zoombike, which easily folds and unfolds and fits into the luggage compartment of a car (2000).
